Given how autobiographical his earlier works are, why a memoir now? “Why now? You’re asking why not never? The short answer is I needed to build a pool. I had the experience the night before of interviewing Shteyngart and had asked him the same question that opens the From Russia With Love session. They’re funny but in a way that can be evasive when you’re enquiring about the subject of their work, a memoir. It’s always hard to interview a satirist. ![]()
